a good thing to do is to not have backyard feeders and change standing water on property, I remember a year about 23 years ago I went to Augusta and it looked like the virus had hit a large population of black birds, startling and grackle population, also wouldn't hurt to get a bug zapper. I had the virus myself and it made me very sick a long time.
