HONOLULU (KHON2) — West Oahu late-night drivers should prepare for delays from Honokai Hale to Waianae due to overnight work scheduled by Hawaiian Electric.

The work will take place from July 22 to July 27 between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. to replace 11 utility poles and other equipment in the area.

According to HECO, the far-right Makaha-bound lane and mauka sidewalk of Farrington Hwy will require a partial closure.

The following areas will be closed starting at 9 p.m.:

    July 22

    • Honokai Hale between Laaloa and Waiomea streets
    • Waianae near 7-Eleven

    July 23

    • Fronting Nānākuli Village Center
    • Between Haleakala Avenue and Helelua Street

    July 24

    • Near the Koʻolina exit from Farrington Hwy
    • Past the Waimānalo Gulch Landfill

    July 25

    • Past the Kahe Power Plant

    July 26

    • Between Maʻaloa Street and Auyong Homestead Road
    • Past Princess Kahanu Avenue
    • Between Lualei Place and Hakimo Road

Officials said an electronic message board will be available to post closures for drivers. Safety signs and traffic cones will also be available to help direct drivers away from work areas.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area when possible and to drive with caution when passing the work zone.
