Suspicious item near Maui school prompts evacuation, bomb squad response
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Patrol officers in Wailuku responded to a report of a suspicious item Tuesday morning that led to evacuation and shelter in place orders. Just before 8 a.m., police were called to an area near the intersection of Lono Avenue and Hina Avenue in Kahului. There, they found what appeared to be an Improvised Explosive Device on the shoulder of the road, resting along the fence line of Kahului Elementary School.
