After 35 years working in higher education in Hawaiʻi—across five campuses statewide—Susan Kazama is calling Hawaiʻi Island home, again. KAHULUI, Hawai'i -- Voluntary evacuations have been lifted on Maui as firefighters battling a brush fire near Waiehu have now gotten 80% containment on the blaze. The brush fire broke out in macadamia nut fields along Kahekili Highway just after 2 a.m. Road closures were implemented at Wai'ehu Beach Road and Maka'ala Drive. All roads were re-opened around 10:30 a.m.
