After a roughly two-hour search, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, along with partnering agencies, recovered a drowning victim around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The identity of the man will be released pending notification of his next of kin, according to WCSO.

The Knightdale Fire Department, Wake Forest Fire Department, Wake County Emergency Management, Wake County EMS, Raleigh Police Department, Youngsville Dive Team, and Raleigh Fire Department all responded and assisted in the search.

Around 5:30 p.m., emergency communications received a report of a possible drowning near the Neuse River Greenway Trail and Loch Raven Parkway. According to witnesses, an adult male was swimming when he went under and never resurfaced.
