Plane crash in Yankton, avalanche battle, vehicular homicide
SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — Here are this morning’s top stories with KELOLAND On the Go. Authorities are investigating a deadly plane crash in Yankton county that killed one person. Rapid City man receives 37-year prison sentence for meth-fueled murder
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Jerel Running Bear, 34, learned his fate Thursday in federal court after pleading guilty to shooting and killing Ashley Valentine near Wounded Knee in November 2023. Running Bear received sentences of 327 months for second-degree murder and 120 months for illegal discharge of a firearm to run consecutively. In total, Running Bear will spend 37 years and three months in prison, with five years of supervised release.

Woman arrested for DUI in northeastern South Dakota crash
WILMOT, S.D.- A pedestrian walking along Highway 123 died after being struck by a vehicle near Wilmot early Sunday morning. Preliminary crash information indicates Darius C. Small, a 20-year-old man, was walking in the southbound lane of the highway early Sunday morning when he was struck by Alyssa J. Feather, who was driving an SUV, also in the southbound lane. Feather was taken into custody for DUI and has other charges pending.
