Black Hills State University Director of Athletics, Mark Nore, has announced the hiring of Alec Schoof as the Yellow Jackets next Director of Athletic Communications. Schoof makes his return to The Mount Rushmore State following a one year stint as Sports Information Director at West Liberty University in West Virginia.
Winner High School football teams tackles storm cleanup
WINNER, S.D. (KELO) — Many parts of KELOLAND are once again cleaning up after damaging storms. One area that got hit hard last night by 80 mph winds was the town of Winner. But Tuesday morning, as soon as the sun came up, the high school football team sprung into action and scored some big points with the community.
Local High School Rodeo Stars Place at National Finals
BELLE FOURCHE—The team of Rance Bowden and Sern Weishaar of Belle Fourche, SD made an impressive showing in the team roping at the 2024 National High School Finals Rodeo, held in Rock Springs, WY, July 14 through July 20. They ended up 5th in the nation with 25 total seconds over three rounds of roping. Bowden and Weishaar ended the 1st go around in 14th place, with a 7.4 second catch. They were 22nd in the 2nd go around with a 9.82 run, and turned in a 7.78 second run in the short go to end up 6th place in the round.
Delaney Johnson Performs at Herrmann Park

Hawarden Man Faces Felony Burglary Charge
Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden man has been arrested on a felony burglary charge after an incident in Hawarden. According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Hawarden Police Department, 42-year-old Kyle Fassett of Hawarden is accused of entering a structure without permission. He was arrested on Wednesday.
