Continuing the First Alert Day into the Second Day of the Sturgis Rally: Dangerous Heat Likely
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Opening weekend has officially started for the 84th annual Sturgis Rally! But it was definitely a hot start today. We are looking to continue that trend. Another First Alert Weather Day is in effect for all of KOTA Territory, including the city of Sturgis. Dangerous heat is expected again. Temperatures nearing 100 by tomorrow afternoon in Sturgis so if you are headed out to participate in some festivities, make sure to stay hydrated all day long and avoid direct sunlight throughout the majority of the day. Wear plenty of sunscreen and look out for your fellow bikers that may have forgotten. The Black Hills will also be seeing the heat. 90s are expected in the highest of the elevations of the hills with dry road conditions. Same rules apply to staying hydrated and wearing sunscreen. This weekend is going to be an all around hot one in the City of Sturgis with temperatures in the triple digits on Saturday and 90s on Sunday. Some PM storms may fire up across the area late on Sunday. But rain chances really start to ramp up as we head closer to the end of the Rally next weekend.
