SD couple sentenced after second-degree murder at Wounded Knee
RAPID CITY, S.D. – A South Dakota couple has been sentenced in connection to a murder that took place at Wounded Knee on November 8, 2023. Jerel Running Bear, 34, of Rapid City went to Wounded Knee with two women on the evening of November 8, 2023 to obtain fentanyl pills from a source. However, the source did not show up.

South Dakota FFA members are being recognized for hard work and career success through the National FFA Proficiency Award program. Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through supervised agricultural experiences, have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward future careers. Nationally there are 45 award areas, ranging from Fruit Production to Beef and Swine Entrepreneurship.
Class of ‘81 friends visit Germany
Classmates from the Gettysburg High School Class of 1981 made a trip to Germany as part of their summer vacation. The 10 day trip happened in mid-June where the women from the U.S. visited classmate Patricia Schlachter. They also went to Frankfort where they met up with German exchange student Bettina Peters who stayed in Gettysburg between the Storer and Marks homes during the 1980 school year. Rapid City’s Reigns Provost entered the night first in the series for bareback. He turned in a 74 point ride to hold onto the top spot. Two fentanyl dealers sentenced in Rapid City after fatal overdose
RAPID CITY, S.D. - Two Rapid City women convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death have been sentenced. Christina Sanchez, 25, and Katey McGruder, 35, took part in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy in Rapid City. McGruder and her husband Curtis Cummings received large amounts of fentanyl from a source in Colorado and brought the fentanyl back to Rapid City, where it was further distributed by Sanchez and others.
