CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Together We Achieve, a vital food pantry in Cedar Rapids, is on the brink of closure, potentially leaving thousands of residents without access to food. The pantry, which has distributed over 2 million pounds of food, needs to raise $50,000 by Aug. 31 to remain operational through the end of the year.
Details released on two people found dead in Charles City
Charles City Police released more information today on a death investigation that began last week. Charles City Police were dispatched to a residence just west of the Floyd County Courthouse, shortly before noon on August 22nd. Chief Hugh Anderson said upon entry to the home, two people were found dead. Charles City Police announced today (Wednesday) that 85-year-old John Flint and 85-year-old Jo Anne Flint, both of Charles City, died in an apparent murder-suicide.

AAA Activates 'Tow to Go' in Nebraska and Iowa for Labor Day Weekend
OMAHA, NE, (August 29, 2024) — As AAA prepares to rescue more than 300,000 drivers nationwide with car trouble this Labor Day weekend, it will also provide a free service in effort to keep impaired drivers off the road. The Auto Club Group is activating its Tow to Go program in Nebraska, Iowa and other select states (see below), offering a safe ride for would-be impaired drivers and their vehicles.
