Man arrested, accused of threatening staff at Fargo business
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A 21-year-old Fargo man, Daniel Ferris, has been arrested for allegedly threatening staff at a Fargo business. He reportedly threatened a business in the 2100 block of University Dr. S. just around 12:30 PM on Saturday, July 13. According to witnesses, after making threats, the man went to his vehicle, retrieved a backpack and gestured towards the staff while banging on the business’s window. Concern arose among staff and witnesses that there might be a firearm inside the backpack.
Airport funding, cost of living adjustment big questions in Fargo preliminary budget
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Mayor Tim Mahoney presented his 2025 preliminary draft budget for the City of Fargo, Thursday afternoon. It’s a balanced budget of $13,804,410, an 11.53% increase from 2024. The biggest increase is in personnel expenses. That includes the hiring of 15 firefighters for the new Fire Station #8 and a 5% cost of living adjustment (COLA). Mahoney says that’s important because city employees have only COLA adjustment’s of 3.5%, 3.5%, and 2% over the last three years, far below inflation. And he points out that the employee turnover rate has grown to an average of almost 13% over the last three years, compared to less than 5% in 2017-2019.

A cast of 32 young people spanning ages from elementary school to post-graduation have been spending their days at the TAK Music Venue in Dilworth. Directed by Henrickson, two choreographers and a music director, they are practicing their singing, dancing and stagecraft for “Newsies,” a musical based on the 1992 movie based on the New York City newsboy strike of 1899. (KNOX) -Approval on a final plan for the Altru Indoor Sports and Aquatics Complex and Children’s Museum in Grand Forks is about two months away. Grand Forks City Administrator Todd Feland said the proposal will include the Children’s Museum even though there is some opposition by members of city council. “We’ll try to get you something well in advance so you have time to review it. Project Developer Involved in Red River Flood Control Project Files New Disputes
A project developer involved in Fargo’s $3.2 billion Red River flood control project is escalating disputes with the city’s Flood Diversion Authority, fighting regulations banning certain structural materials. The Red River Valley Alliance has reportedly submitted up to four new claims against the city, disputing the ban on epoxy-coated rebar in diversion channel structures. John Shockley, counsel for the Diversion Authority, says the developer is making aggressive claims that won’t hold up after review. Shockley and the city pointed to regulations in the contract that specify epoxy-coated rebar be used for structural integrity purposes. It’s likely the dispute will now head to informal arbitration board, and there’s a possibility of civil litigation.
Trial Set for Woman Charged in Vehicular Assault at Fargo Nightclub
A trial date has been set for the woman accused of driving into people at a Fargo nightclub earlier this year. 25-year-old Princess Gweh appeared in Cass County Court on Wednesday after being charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment, DUI, and other charges. Prosecutors say Gweh drove into and a group of people and ran over two of them outside of the Cairo Restaurant and Bar on February 18. Judge Constance Cleveland set the jury trial to begin on October 22. There were three people seriously injured in the incident. Gweh and pleaded not guilty.
