ND Abortion Access Hearing Held in Fargo District Court
A hearing on abortion access in North Dakota was held Tuesday in Fargo District Court. Plaintiffs from the Red River Women’s Clinic argued before Judge Bruce Romanick that he should toss out the state’s abortion ban. They argue the law is unconstitutional due to vague language in the law and what they describe as too-narrow exceptions for life of the mother. State Special Attorney General Dan Gaustad argued for the case’s dismissal, saying that the Fargo/Moorhead clinic that brought the case lacks standing due to them moving out of state after the ban was enacted. Judge Romanick said he will rule quickly on whether the case should proceed to trial in August.
