Church announces groundbreaking date for first temple in Kansas
SALT LAKE CITY — A groundbreaking ceremony for the Wichita Kansas Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be held later this year. The First Presidency has announced the ceremony will be held on Sept. 7., according to a news release. Elder Steven R. Bangerter, first counselor in the North America Central Area Presidency, will preside at the event. The temple was first announced in April 2022 by President Russell M. Nelson.

On Tuesday, Wichita Police reported no new update on missing 33-year-old Eric Gonzalez-Gutierrez, who is wanted for violating his pre-trial restrictions. On June 21, he cut his ankle monitor, according to Wichita Police.
