CHARLES COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Police arrested a Charles County man in Mississippi months after he escaped custody and failed to appear in court.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said that 40-year-old Mack Lee Cleckley of Waldorf was arrested in April 2024. He was charged with possession with the intent to distribute drugs after detectives investigated him for drug trafficking.

CCSO said that a judge released him on electric monitoring, but Cleckley cut off the monitoring device and left the area. Officials issued a bench warrant when he failed to appear in court for his case.
