Kristine James is the new executive director of the Walker Area Food Shelf, a role in which she oversees the organization’s mission to combat food insecurities in the Walker area and surrounding communities.

With a dedication to community services and a passion for helping others, James brings extensive experience in nonprofit commitment and deep understanding of the challenges faced by underserved individuals.

Before joining the Walker Area Food Shelf, James held key positions in various nonprofit organizations that were instrumental in implementing successful programs that addressed critical community needs. Her prior employment with Lutheran Social Services as a regional manager has given her useful insight into the current local food issues as hand.

Prior to moving to the area, James’ volunteer activities involved being an active member in multiple clubs and organizations in Colorado Springs and Denver area ranging from military groups, animal rescue and training, to state coalitions advocating for motorized recreational land use for over 10 years. Before this, she was a key leader as a youth director involved in designing and implementing youth programs across the United States for local churches and organizations which led to broader conversations about community support.

Outside of her professional endeavors, James enjoys extreme rock crawling in her custom Jeep, Rzr riding and other outdoor recreational activities, creating unique gluten-free recipes and volunteering when possible — where the need arises. Trying whenever possible to foster a strong, resilient community both in her work and personal life.

“I am very honored and motivated to be a part of this dedicated organization that contributes so much to the Walker area. Together, with the communities’ support, we can work to ensure our community members do not go hungry.”

For more information about the Walker Area Food Shelf, contact James at (218) 547-1713 or at walkerfoodshelf@gmail.com.
