Guest speakers at the Walker Rotary July 23 meeting were members of Walker Bay Theater. Executive Director Dave Holk was joined by Board member and costumer Lori Gamache as well as Joe Hart, who comes with lots of experience and is directing the upcoming play, “Steel Magnolias.” Walker Bay Theater was formed in 2008 in Akeley and moved to Walker in 2011. Its mission is to create, develop and produce entertainment productions for the community’s enjoyment. The seven-member board also has about six volunteers. They are always open for more volunteers with many varied tasks available. Go for it! There is also a children’s theater to create extraordinary theater experiences using the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. Watch advertising for those productions! Some recent performances of recent casts include “Nunsense,” “Ole and Lena,” “Hotdish on a Stick” and the “Patsy Cline Show.” Last year the performers put on “Church Basement Ladies,” “Driving Miss Daisy” and “A Christmas Carol.” This year’s line-up includes the just completed “Caught in the Villain’s Web,” “Steel Magnolias” and “Love Letters.” The fall line-up includes “Patsy Cline Forever and Ever” with Jo and Ryan Pels, “Frankenstein Dlept Here,” a Halloween comedy, and a kids’ Christmas party, including Santa, Mrs. Claus and live reindeer.
