    Former Maryland State Police lieutenant recounts journey to capture Beltway snipers

    On Sunday at Walkersville Branch Library, a small crowd listened intently to David Reichenbaugh, a U.S. Capitol Police civilian analyst and former lieutenant for the Maryland State Police, recount his experience investigating and ultimately arresting the Beltway Snipers.

    Reichenbaugh wrote a book, "In Pursuit: The Hunt for the Beltway Snipers," about how local, state and federal law enforcement agencies worked together to find John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo, who killed more than 10 people and wounded others in October 2002.

    The two were apprehended at a rest stop in Myersville, a few miles east of the Washington County line.
