New USI scholarships to focus on enhancing healthcare quality
New USI scholarships to focus on enhancing healthcare quality for Indiana’s aging population. The University of Southern Indiana Foundation has received a $100,000 grant from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield to fund scholarships for USI undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Administrator-in-Training (AIT) residency program or any academic major, minor or certificate program offered in gerontology. The scholarships will increase educational and career opportunities for students interested in working with older adults and bolster the healthcare workforce in Indiana.

Fewer Indiana kids are getting vaccinated
INDIANAPOLIS — As students head back to school, doctors are concerned that fewer kids are getting their routine vaccinations. The latest numbers show 56.4% of Hoosier children 19-35 months old have received all of the recommended immunizations. That's down from 58% in 2022 and 61% in 2021, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.
ISP trooper shares experience after deadly semi crash
"We don't hesitate to stop and help people we have to do it," Indiana State Police trooper Austin Slone said. Slone was driving in Warsaw with his family when he saw a semi go off of State Road 15, almost hit his car and then crash into the nearby Texas Roadhouse.
High speed chase ends in crash at Adams and Portage in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday witnesses say a vehicle sped through the intersection of Adams and Portage Roads while fleeing from authorities. No official report has been released as of 5 p.m., but eyewitnesses at the scene report the crash was the result of a high-speed chase that ended with the suspect crashing into a vehicle, sending it into the tree line near the three-way intersection.
