On3’s Jesse Simonton ranked his best teams ahead of the year, and the Irish are his No. 9 overall squad. It’s a good spot for Marcus Freeman’s team, even though this poll doesn’t count for much.

Comfortable stretch of weather ahead
A very comfortable and pleasant stretch of weather continues through early next week. Humidity will stay very low into the middle of the week before it becomes noticeably more humid by Thursday. We will stay dry until Thursday as well. Temperatures will be slightly cooler than usual into early next week with highs mostly in the mid to upper 70s and lows in the upper 50s through Wednesday. It will stay breezy on Sunday which will keep waves high and swimming dangerous. Otherwise, mostly sunny skies will prevail for the rest of the weekend. Sky conditions will be okay tonight and Sunday night for the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower event.
