A popular country band from the 1990s is coming to Grand Junction as part of a free event at the end of the month. Channel Seed Field Service Representative and Grand Junction resident Savannah Lyons tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Channel Seed is sponsoring a customer appreciation event on August 28th in Grand Junction with country band icon Blackhawk to perform. She says Channel Seed wanted to have a customer appreciation event in conjunction with the Farm Progress Show in Boone County.

New Skills Based Testing Program Offered at Iowa Central Community College. Iowa Central Community College is pleased to announce a new opportunity for people interested in improving their work-related skills through proficiency-based testing in the areas of Industrial Machines and Industrial Mechanics. “We are now offering proficiency-based courses where students can earn their degree by completing courses using hands on skills through proficiency testing,” says Dr. Stacy Mentzer, Vice President of Instruction at Iowa Central Community College. “What is different about this process is that many employers in our nine-county service area need individuals with these skills and need them on the job. Proficiency-based testing creates a win-win situation because people can work while they gain the skills they need,” added Dr. Mentzer.

(The Center Square) - The Iowa State Fair set attendance records for three of its first seven days as Iowans and out-of-state residents enjoy the annual August event in Des Moines. Tuesday was the latest record-setting day with 101,244 people, according to the fair's website. The previous record was 102,953 attendees, set in 2019.
