Thanks to their 34-24 win over North Carolina on Saturday, the Pittsburgh Panthers are off to a 5-0 start and have already won two more games than they did during the entire 2023 season. Perhaps even more important than the wins is the fact they seem to have found a potential superstar quarterback in redshirt freshman Eli Holstein.Holstein is already establishing himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the country and he's doing things at the start of his career that no Pitt quarterback has done since Dan Marino. He is the first Panthers freshman quarterback since Marino to win his...

Transfer QB, Re-Energized Offense Power Unbeaten Pitt
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — North Carolina looks to snap a two-game losing skid when it plays host to undefeated Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon at Kenan Stadium (noon, ESPN2). The Panthers (4-0) are unbeaten through four games for the first time since 2000, back when they were playing football in the Big East Conference. The Big East, of course, has since eliminated football and Pitt joined the ACC in 2011. Pitt handled Kent State in the season opener (55-24), before knocking off a pair of Big 12 teams. The Panthers squeaked by on the road at Cincinnati (28-27), and won the Backyard Brawl at home over West Virginia (38-34). Pitt then blasted FCS program Youngstown State (73-17), and took a break last week with its first open date on the schedule.
