Tasha Herring of J Arthur’s Cigar Lounge announces fan drive for senior citizens in Duplin County.

J Arthur’s is the very first cigar lounge in the county. Herring shares her love for Wallace and her heartwarming connection to the town. “When we opened J Arthur’s, we wanted it to be a place for the community and we wanted to always make sure we could give back to the community.”

Last year, 50 fans were donated and they hope to receive more. The drive was started to give back and help people cool off during the summer heat as an alternative to air conditioners.

“It’s to keep them comfortable and we want them to be comfortable,” said Herring who was inspired by her mother and knew that she wanted to make sure everyone had access to fans, especially “all the elderly people who would rather have a fan.”

If you plan to donate, you can drop off fans to their location in Wallace and follow their requirements. “We don’t want them to have any assembly at all and make sure it’s something they can actually pick up and take from one room to the next.”

This is not the only way they are giving back to the community. They plan to give back again and continue with other donation events in the near future.

On July 15, fans will be distributed and they are more than happy to have volunteers support the Wallace Police Department who will further the distribution.

J Arthur’s is open for fan donations from 6 p.m. on Thursday through Sunday evenings and is located at 114 SW Railroad Street in downtown Wallace.
