    Grand Opening and Giveaway

    The Born Anew Blessing Barn & Fellowship Hall is hosting a grand opening on Saturday July 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be providing free food, clothes, household items, toys, and infant items at 645 North Blizzardtown Road in Beulaville.

    Pet Adoption Saturday

    Second Annual Stomp the Stigma

    Join Peer Recovery 365 for an event with guest speakers, live music, and vendors to end the stigma of mental health. Peer Recovery is a mental health service provider that believes in the power of community and shared experiences and their latest service will be announced on July 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 103 South Front Street in Warsaw.

    VAD Board Meeting

    The Duplin County Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) Board is back in session. The VAD is a voluntary program that land owners can enroll in when property is in land use to show that the land is used for agricultural purposes. The Board will have its next meeting on July 23 at 6:30pm at the Lois G. Britt Agricultural Center in Kenansville.

    Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution

    The Battle of Rockfish Chapter is running their annual celebration on Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m. at the Rockfish Memorial on Highway 11.

    Vacation Bible School

    Wallace First Assembly will be holding our Community VBS “Come and See, Jesus Makes All Things New!” from July 27-31. On Saturday, Family Day runs from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. From Sunday to Wednesday, ages two to twelve will be able to participate for the week.

    Cardio Drumming

    Every Thursday in August at 3 p.m., join the Steele Memorial Library for your next workout. Cardio drumming is an adult class that brings together drumsticks, an exercise ball, and standing to create one of the most fun workouts you’ll ever do. Please call 919-299-8105 ext. 5351 to register.

    Back Street Music Festival

    Tri-County Youth Services presents the 2024 Backstreet Music Festival in Wallace. This event will take place across the Wallace Depot at 208 SW Railroad Street. This festival is designed to bring the community together, promoting the importance of the history and conservation of Backstreet. It will be a day full of entertainment for all ages, including music, carnival rides, workshops and a variety of vendors starting at 10 a.m. on August 3.

    Duplin County Historical Society

    The historical society will meet at the Rose Hill Restaurant at noon on August 3. The event will include conversation and a performance by violinist Barbara Bullard.

    10th Anniversary Stories of Steele

    Prayer at the Flagpole for School Year

    Duplin County Faith-based leaders will hold the annual Prayer at the Flagpole on Tuesday, August 13. The event will take place at the Duplin County Schools Board of Education beginning at 12:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend as our leaders pray for blessings in the upcoming school year.

    Community Back-to-School Day

    School supplies, health services, fun, and more will be available for Duplin County Students from Pre-K to 12th grades at Charity Missions Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m on August 17.

    Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament

    The 16th Annual Bill Lord Memorial Tournament has been instrumental in supporting our Exceptional Children’s Programming in Duplin County schools.     The pantry at Duplin Christian Outreach Ministries, 514 S. Norwood Street in Wallace is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-11:30 a.m. DCOM will provide a referral to verified applicants. Call 910-285-6000. The DCOM Mobile Pantry vehicle services Wallace, Magnolia, Faison, Albertson, Mount Olive, Warsaw and the Scott Store community area. Qualifying seniors (65 or older) and disabled individuals who are not able to visit can call 910-285-6000 or 910-285-6500 for accommodations.

    Duplin County Alzheimer’s/Caregiver Support Group is held the first Tuesday night of every month, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the senior center located on 213 Seminary Street in Kenansville.

    The Duplin County NAACP holds monthly meetings on first Sundays at 4 p.m. at Shaw Temple AME Zion Church on 1788 NC 11 Hwy in Rose Hill.

    The Helping Hands Pantry at Wallace Presbyterian Church, 205 W Main Street in Wallace is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-11:45 a.m. DCOM will provide a referral to verified applicants. For information, call 910-285-6000.

    Every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. there is free food, basic needs items as well as health screenings and several other resources available to the public at the Shacklefree office located at 224 W. College St., Suite B, Warsaw, N.C. For information, call 910-226-8138.

    Every first and third Wednesday of the month, the city of Wilmington Parks & Rec Department hosts a Wheelchair Basketball Open Gym from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the MLK Center on 401 S. 8 St. Contact Abby Smith at 910-772-4170 if you have any questions or concerns.

    Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity will launch HabiTours — monthly opportunities for individuals, civic groups, companies and anyone interested in learning more about Cape Fear Habitat, to tour its Education and Construction Center at 3310 Fredrickson Rd. in Wilmington starting July 16. HabiTours will then take place regularly on the second Wednesday of each month from noon to 1:00 pm for individuals and groups of up to 15.

    The Duplin County Health Department is offering Diabetes Self Management Classes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at 340 Seminary Street in Kenansville.

    Duplin County Beekeepers meets the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Duplin Extension Center.

    The Duplin Democratic Party County meetings run the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7pm at James Sprunt Community College in Monk Auditorium. Open to all.
