Advocates say the city’s Department of Correction has been struggling to provide adequate reentry services and programs to detainees at Rikers Island. This started when the DOC ended its $17 million contract with five nonprofits that had initially been doing the work. Instead, the agency decided to provide the programming itself.

BPCA Seeks Balance for Funding Affordability Near and Far. The Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) has reached an agreement with Mayor Eric Adams and City Comptroller Brad Lander to earmark $500 million for the development and preservation of affordable housing throughout the five boroughs of New York City. This allocation will come from the Authority’s Joint Purpose Fund (JPF), a repository for a share of the monies collected from payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) and ground rent payments, both of which are remitted to the Authority by commercial and residential property owners in the community.

HOBOKEN, NJ - Local leaders in Hoboken are condemning an incident that left the United Synagogue vandalized on Wednesday, and called for the responsible individuals to be held accountable. According to reports, the Hoboken Police Officers responded to the United Synagogue of Hoboken,115 Park Ave., at approximately 9:00 a.m. following reports of graffiti. The synagogue staff reported discovering the message "Free Palestine" on their property.
