Water contact advisories issued for Camp Petosega and Zorn Park
EMMET COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Partial body contact advisories have been issued for Camp Petosega and Zorn Park in Emmet County due to high E. coli levels. Waters samples collected on Monday showed an E. coli level of 325.5 per 100 ml for Camp Petosega, and 344.8 per 100 ml for Zorn Park, according to theHealth Department of Northwest Michigan.

Carmen relies on her parents to be her caregivers, as well as an occupational therapist and a massage therapist to help with movement and her muscles. Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck in Boyne City
BOYNE CITY — On Aug.19 around 12:20 p.m., Boyne City Police officers were sent to a single-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on State Street (M75 N) just east of the North East Street intersection. Preliminary accident investigation findings show that the pedestrian was attempting to cross State Street outside of the designated crosswalk and was struck head-on by a Dodge Ram pickup truck, police said. The driver of the truck was identified as a 25-year-old male resident of Grand Rapids. The pedestrian was identified as a 78-year-old male from Boyne City. Boyne City EMS and fire department personnel responded to the scene to render immediate aid, police said.

The 2025 budget for the state of Michigan showcases a governmental push towards making education more affordable through several new initiatives approved by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the state’s legislature.
