Firefighters battle to protect communities as Washington wildfires spread
WASHINGTON — Several large wildfires burning in Washington are growing. At least one wildfire is nearing structures and highway closures are also in effect. The Pioneer Fire on the north shore of Lake Chelan has been burning since June 8th. As of Sunday, July 28, it has grown to 33,277 acres. It has grown by more than 1,300 acres within the last week. The human-caused fire is 10% contained.
