For several days, thick smoke has plagued Colorado's Front Range.The haze has been so thick, at times, that views of the mountains have been obstructed for people who might ordinarily have a clear view of the Rockies."It is happening more frequently," said Sheryl Magzamen, a professor in Colorado State University's Department of Environmental and Radiological Health. GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Smoke from wildfires can reduce air quality at times across Western Colorado, and the return of triple-digit heat may make the problem worse. An Air Quality Alert is in effect until 10 PM for Mesa County in Western Colorado. High concentrations of o-zone are expected to reach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups, including those who have pre-existing respiratory issues like asthma. Limit your time outdoors if possible, and avoid heavy exertion to reduce the likelihood of breathing discomfort or other respiratory issues.

Deadly crash along Highway 50 near Rocky Ford involved CDOT dump truck
ROCKY FORD, Colo. (KKTV) - One person is dead after a car slammed into the back of a dump truck just outside Rocky Ford Tuesday morning. According to State Patrol, the two drivers were in parallel lanes, both heading eastbound on Highway 50. The Saturn SL1 abruptly changed lanes but didn’t have enough room to make that move and rear-ended the dump truck. The driver in the Saturn was killed.
