Grand Island program keeps at-risk NE youth out of detention facilities
(KMAland) -- A Grand Island-based organization is offering a diversion program cited in a new report as one of the most effective with at-risk youths. The intervention program is Multi-Systemic Therapy, or MST, which the Mid-Plains Center has offered for more than 20 years. In The Sentencing Project's report, MST is identified as having contributed to the 75% decline in youth incarceration between 2000 and 2022.
Alliance Police Department searches for suspect in attempted ATM theft
ALLIANCE, Neb. (KOLN) - The Alliance Police Department is looking for a person involved in an attempted ATM theft that occurred Sunday. According to APD, an alarm was triggered at the ATM located outside Nebraska Bank at 1320 W 3rd St. on Sunday at 9 a.m. Responding officers, who were aware of similar incidents at ATMs in the Panhandle, quickly reviewed the surveillance footage from the scene.
Pohlman to present poster on capstone research at national conference
CHADRON — Chadron State College senior Sutton Pohlman of Stanton, Nebraska, will present a poster about his capstone course research at the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) conference in Omaha in October.
