2021-04-10
What comes to your mind when you think of a tropical paradise? For me- it’s the Seychelles. When you Google ‘Seychelles’ the fist image you get is a beach with huge granite rocks surrounded by a lagoon, right? This is where I am taking you today.
Lading in the Seychelles is a spectacular experience itself and it only gets better once you step outside the airport. The granite rocks surround all the main islands making the landscapes look like fine art. Although there are many incredible islands and beaches to visit in the Seychelles, there is one spot that really stands out and it’s Anse Source D’Argent Beach located in the small, but breathtakingly diverse and beautiful island of La Digue.
ABOUT SOURCE ANSE D’ARGENT
Often described as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Anse Source D’Argent is undoubtedly the most photographed spot in The Seychelles and that is for a good reason. Flooded with crystal and perfectly turquoise waters and shaded with swinging palm trees, this incredible seaside gem is a place that should make a cut to every traveller’s bucket list.
The trademark boulders that make an appearance on numerous beaches across the Seychelles islands are particularly dramatic and impressive here in Anse Source D’Argent.
HOW TO GET TO SOURCE ANSE D’ARGENT?
First of all, you need to reach La Digue island in order to explore the beauty of Anse Source D’Argent. As the only international airport in the Seychelles is located on the main island- Mahè, you will need to take a ferry from Mahè to La Digue. The journey lasts about 1,5 hours, takes stops at some other scenic islands and guarantees the world’s class views all along the way.
After the arrival in La Digue, drop your luggage at your chosen guesthouse, grab a bike and take a ride through the paths surrounded by the palm tree forests. If you follow the main path which runs along the coastline, you will be able to see the signs navigating you to the location. Now, take a deep breath as you are about to walk into a real life fairytale.
THE BEST TIME TO VISIT SOURCE ANSE D’ARGENT
In general, the best times to visit Seychelles are April, May, October and November. These months are transitions between the hot and humid northwest winds, which blow from November until March, and the cooler southeast winds that hit Seychelles from April through October. The wettest months are January and February.
The best times of the day to visit Anse Source D’Argent are early mornings and late afternoons, right before the sunset. When you arrive at the beach at early hours, the possibility of having the entire place to yourself is high. Sunsets tend to be busier than early hours due to incredible views of the sky reflecting oranges and purples in the water surface. For this reason, Anse Source D’Argent is also considered as the best sunset-watching spot on the island.
HOW TO GET AROUND
Although the beach is relatively small, it has plenty of gems to explore. Simply take your shoes off and stroll across the powdery sands passing through the corridors carved between the gigantic boulders.
