Trine knocked out of DIII tourney by Oshkosh

ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) – Trine softball came into Friday needing just one win to advance to the DIII Softball World Series, but the Thunder came up short at their Super Regional in Angola, falling to Wisconsin-Oshkosh twice as the visiting Titans eliminated the reigning national champion Thunder.

After winning 9-0 on Thursday in game one of the best-of-three series, Trine yielded three runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning in game two to fall by a final of 3-1 on Friday afternoon, forcing a decisive game three.

In game three the Thunder gave up three unearned runs in the top of the first and never led, losing by a score of 5-2.

Trine ends the season with an overall record of 43-5.
