Late game surge lifts Caps over Cubs

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne scored two runs to take the lead in the eighth inning then added two more in the ninth as the TinCaps beat the Cubs for the third game in a row, topping South Bend 5-2 on Thursday night at Coveleski Stadium.

Starting pitcher Eric Yost, who was making his 2024 TinCaps debut after being called up from Single-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, gave up just one earned run over five innings while striking out four.

These two teams play game four of their six-game series at 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
