Summertime heat will return again soon

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – As we have been watching over the past few days, temperatures are expected to heat back up in a big way by late this week into the weekend. This comes after the potential for record cold early Wednesday morning.

The 6 to 10 day temperature outlook shows above average temperature probabilities across the eastern half of the country, but especially here in our area.

We’re set to go from our cool, early fall-like temperatures this week to hot, humid, and summertime air by the weekend into early next week. You fans of the summer sizzle, and shorts and t-shirt weather, there is more to come.

Our cool airmass currently located in the northeastern part of the country will depart and be replaced by a building heat dome in the center part of the country that expands eastward into our area.

This is not too unusual in August, but Wednesday morning’s potential record low temperature is most certainly noteworthy this year. Last year, we went from a low temperature of 49 degrees on August 19th to a high temperature of 90 degrees four days later on the 23rd. This is a 41 degree temperature difference. Between our low temperature Wednesday morning and the high on Sunday, we could be talking an even higher temperature difference…
