PEORIA, Ill. (WANE) – The TinCaps’ misery continued after Peoria walked off Fort Wayne, 6-4, in 10 innings on Thursday night at Doser Park.

Fort Wayne’s losing streak is now at eight games dating back to last Wednesday.

The TinCaps trailed early, 3-0, before cracking the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Devin Ortiz and Nerwilian Cedeño knocked in a run on a sac fly to make it a 3-2 game.

Fort Wayne gained the lead after scoring twice in the top of the eighth inning. Rosman Verdugo scored the tying run on a RBI single by Tyler Robertson. Colton Bender then squeaked a ball to third base, allowing Ortiz to reach home for the go-ahead run. Peoria responded by tying the game in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sac fly.

In the extra inning, the TinCaps squandered a chance to take a commanding lead with the bases loaded. Hunter Hayes got out of a jam by retiring the next three batters to give the Chiefs a chance to win in walk-off fashion. Leonardo Bernal then blasted a game-winning 2-run shot to left field.

The TinCaps continue their series at Peoria on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
