DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A 19-year-old was in critical condition Friday after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a bus and a truck on a rural road.

Around 6:45 a.m., the motorcycle was traveling north on County Road 35 while a bus and a truck were southbound, according to a release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.

Police determined the bus, driven by a 64-year-old man from Auburn, tried to turn into a driveway in the 5600 block of CR 35. But as the driver made the left-hand turn, the oncoming motorcycle clipped the bumper of the bus, according to the description provided in the release.

The motorcycle then crashed head-on into a truck that was behind the bus that was turning, police said.

While the release did not specify which driver was at fault, police did say they believe speed was a factor in the collision.

A photo shared by the police department shows the motorcycle underneath the truck due to the impact of the crash.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old man from Leo, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The other drivers weren’t injured, according to the release.

The motorcycle and truck were both heavily damaged, while the bus had minor rear-end damage.

The crash is still under investigation.
