Trine football ready to rise in 10th season of Abbs era

ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) – College football season is just around the corner, and Trine is looking to storm out of the gates with a hot start.

Head coach Troy Abbs is gearing up for his 10th season at the helm. The veteran coach is reloading with several fresh faces after graduating eight of their nine all-MIAA conference players.

Tucker Hasselman, an Angola grad, is among the top playmakers returning from last year’s team as a linebacker. The senior racked up 51 tackles, half a sack and a forced fumble in his junior season. Also lining up on defense are northeast Indiana natives Trestan Kern and Trey Richards. Meanwhile, Bellmont grad Dalton Robinson is anchoring the offensive line for the Thunder as the starting center.

Trine kicks off their season on Saturday, Sept. 7 at home against Christopher Newport.
