    Fort Wayne shares updated cooling center list

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — With temperatures expected to soar into the upper 90s Tuesday, the city of Fort Wayne released an updated list of public cooling center s.

    The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission ’s day shelter is open 7 days a week from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Open regardless of temperature. Adults can access overnight shelter here as well.

    Location: 404 E Washington Blvd

    Also, 3 meals are served each day for anyone in the community who is hungry:

    • Breakfast at 7:00 AM
    • Lunch at 12:00 noon
    • Dinner at 5:00 PM.

    Allen County Public Library- Main Library
    Location: 900 Library Plaza

    • Monday – Thursday 9am – 9pm
    • Friday and Saturday 9am – 6pm
    • Sunday 12pm – 5pm.

    When the temperatures are expected to be above 90:

    The Salvation Army Cooling Station is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

    Botanical Conservatory:

    Location: 1100 S Calhoun St
    HOURS:

    • TUESDAY 10AM – 5PM
    • WEDNESDAY 10AM – 5PM
    • THURSDAY 10AM – 8PM
    • FRIDAY 10AM – 5PM
    • SATURDAY 10AM – 5PM
    • SUNDAY NOON – 4PM

    InAsMuch Ministry

    Location: 930 Broadway St
    Monday through Friday 4:00pm-7:00pm

    Site open for adults only due to the nature of services provided.

    Faith United Methodist Church

    207 E Dewald St, Fort Wayne, 46803- Enter side door and go downstairs
    Every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00pm-8:00pm
    Water and light snacks will be available.

    Citilink Buses as Mobile Cooling Stations

    On heat advisory days, Citilink buses will serve as mobile cooling stations to help our community beat the heat.

    Hours of Operation:

    • Monday through Friday: 5:40 a.m. to 8:15 p.m.
    • Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

    Anyone seeking relief from the heat can ride the buses to stay cool with a valid ticket during these hours.

    Transfer Information: To help us maintain accurate ridership numbers, we kindly ask that you transfer buses every two hours at Central Station. Drivers may also request that you switch buses throughout the day.

    Travel Training: Travel training is available to help people learn how to ride our buses. Our travel trainer can assist you with reading our maps, learning our schedules, and riding the bus with you until you feel confident to ride by yourself.
