Concordia boys soccer clips Leo in 2A top 15 showdown

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – In a battle between two ranked programs in Class 2A, no. 7 Concordia edged no. 15 Leo, 2-1, on Thursday at Zollner Stadium.

The Cadets jumped out to an early lead thanks to a Max Derheimer goal. The senior curled in a strike outside the 18-yard box to give Concordia a 1-0 lead.

Leo answered back a couple minutes later. Senior forward Eli Lorenc followed through on a second-chance ball to equalize the match at 1-1 halfway through the first half.

Just before halftime, Collin Johnson cashed in on a cross to put Concordia in front for good. That was the final tally in Concordia’s 2-1 win on Thursday.

Concordia (3-1) visits Heritage next Tuesday, while Leo (2-1-2) visits NE8 foe New Haven that same night.
