FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Quick with a smile or a joke in that deep, booming voice of his, Ray Sims was a Summit City staple on the sidelines for many years as the Snider boys basketball coach.

Last Friday, however, coach Sims passed away at the age of 70.

Sims began his head coaching career at Wabash High School, before moving on to Anderson Highland, and eventually Snider. He led the Panthers from 1997-2009, including the best season in school history when Snider went 25-2 and reached the 4A state title game during the 2008-09 campaign.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Monday, September 9 at Pathway Community Church. Visitation is set for 10 a.m. with a funeral service at noon.
