FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The historic Swinney House is open for visitors to walk through on Saturday and Sunday as part of the 42nd annual West Central Neighborhood Home & Garden Tour.

The tour includes ten houses from the 19th and 20th century and aims to promote the area’s revitalization and historic preservation.

The Swinney Homestead includes the main house, a log cabin and a herb garden. According to the Settlers, Inc. website, the house was built by Thomas and Lucy Swinney in 1844. The Swinney’s lived at the house until 1922 when it became Museum of the Allen County-Fort Wayne Historical Society, and, eventually, Settlers moved in to make the home their new headquarters.

The West Central Neighborhood Home & Garden Tour run on Sept. 7 and 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Trolley rides are available around the area. ArtsFest is also in the midst of the tour. Tickets are available online for $18 and $20 in person.
