MARION, Ind. (WANE) – Year 27 of the Kevin Donley era at Saint Francis got off on the wrong foot, with the Cougars falling to No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan, 52-14.

Saint Francis dug themselves a 38-0 hole before getting on the board late in the first half. Grant Gremel connected with O’Vauntay Vickers for a 31-yard touchdown, but Saint Francis trailed 38-7 at halftime.

Eli Patchett caught another touchdown pass from Gremel in the second half, but the deficit was too tall to overcome.

Saint Francis (0-1) returns to Bishop D’Arcy Stadium next weekend for the Cougars’ home opener against Defiance College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. next weekend.
