St. Francis eyes home opener Saturday against Defiance

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – After opening the 2024 season on the road, the Saint Francis football team will play its home opener Saturday night with kick off against Defiance College set for 6 p.m. at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium.

The Cougars are coming off a 52-14 loss to Indiana Wesleyan last Saturday, a game in which they trailed 38-0 before Grant Gremel connected with O’Vauntay Vickers on a 31-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter. Gremel would add a 3-yard TD pass to Eli Patchett in the third quarter.

Defiance comes in 0-1 following a 34-10 road loss at Concordia University Ann Arbor.
