FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is working to piece together details of a shooting that sent a man and woman to the hospital Monday on the southeastern edge of Fort Wayne.

FWPD began investigating around 12:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of Selkirk Drive, in the Crown Colony neighborhood off East Tillman Road and Wayne Trace. That’s near Paul Harding Junior High School and East Allen University.

According to a release from FWPD, initial reports indicated only one gunshot was heard, and someone was shot during an argument outside a home. But officers at the scene found two people with gunshot wounds.

Medics at an area hospital determined the woman had life-threatening injuries and the man was in non-life-threatening condition. The relationship between the two is also still being investigated, police said.

There is no threat to public safety, according to the release. Information on a suspect has not been shared.

Several squad cars and unmarked cars were at the scene along with a fire truck. Detectives and officers spent the afternoon canvassing the area to find any evidence and interview potential witnesses.

Anyone with information should call police at 260-427-1222, contact Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867, or submit tips via the P3 app .

FWPD’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, along with the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
