FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Snider freshman Janaya Cooper has yet to play her first high school basketball game yet, but that hasn’t stopped colleges from courting the ninth grade basketball standout.

A 5-foot-11 forward, Cooper currently holds offers from the University of Dayton, Purdue Fort Wayne, Bowling Green, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Youngstown State, and Northern Kentucky.

She’s ranked in the top ten in the Midwest for the class of 2028 and joins a Snider program that went 22-3 last season, reaching 4A semi-state.

The first practice for IHSAA girls basketball teams is slated for Monday, October 21. However, teams are able to hold open gym sessions in the fall as players prep for the upcoming season.
