CORALVILLE, Iowa (WANE) – After rallying from a 4-1 deficit in Friday’s season opener, the Komets won another nail-biting game with a 2-1 overtime victory at the Iowa Heartlanders.

Tied at 1-1 in overtime, Fort Wayne native Alex Aleardi drilled a one-timer to clinch a 2-0 start for the Komets.

After a scoreless first period, Austen Swankler scored his second goal in as many nights to put the Komets in front, 1-0. However, Iowa tied the game on a power play goal in the final minutes of regulation to force overtime.

The Komets return to Fort Wayne for their home opener at the Jungle. Fort Wayne hosts Cincinnati on Friday at Memorial Coliseum, followed by another home game against Kalamazoo on Saturday.
