FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – During his time at Homestead, Sam Steward has shown he can hammer opposing ball carriers on defense.

It’s only fitting that the linebacker is getting ready to “Boiler Up and Hammer Down.”

Last Thursday, Steward announced his verbal commitment to Purdue ahead of his senior season. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker led Homestead with 94 tackles, 17 for loss and 11 sacks last year.

Steward earned an offer from Purdue over the summer while attending a camp in West Lafayette. It didn’t take long for the linebacker to fall in love with Ryan Walters’ program.

Steward can officially sign with Purdue in December during the Division I early signing period.
