MONROEVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – When Heritage football hits the field for the first time this Friday, a familiar face will officially take the reigns over as head coach.

Jeremy Hullinger, a long time assistant coach for the Patriots, is kicking off his first year as the head man at Heritage. He is tasked with continuing the upward trajectory for a Heritage program that is coming off one of their best seasons in recent memory.

Last year, Heritage went 8-1 in the regular season, with the lone loss to Adams Central. After a win over Woodlan in their sectional opener, the Patriots were stunned by Garrett in the sectional semifinal.

Despite graduating dual-threat quarterback Kobe Meyer, the cupboard is far from bare for Hullinger’s crew. Eli Tigulis slides in as quarterback, and the senior has plenty of playmakers to distribute the ball. Cjay Barnett, Braden Walter and Zeke Litchfield each shined this past season in Monroeville.

In the trenches, 6-foot-4-inch Charlie Riddle is emerging as one of the more underrated linemen in the state. On defense, Riddle earned 36 tackles with six for loss and one sack.

Heritage kicks off their season on Friday against Bellmont.
