CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A 19-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi truck on Interstate 70 .

According to Indiana State Police, the incident occurred at the 22 mile marker of I-70 westbound in Clay County at approximately 2:30 a.m. Thursday. The investigation was stalled due to dense fog in the area causing reconstruction crews to have to delay their investigation for safer conditions. Police waited for the fog to clear, then at 8:40 a.m. they shut down the roadway for a little over an hour while the investigation continued.

Investigating troopers learned that a pedestrian had been walking in the right lane of I-70 westbound when he was struck by the truck. The Clay County Coroner’s Office has since identified him as James Carder, a 19-year-old from Wapakoneta, Ohio.
