WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla Public Schools is teaming up with Yondr to help curb cell phone use at middle schools. Beginning in August, students at Pioneer and Garrison Middle Schools in grades 6-8 will be required to place all electronic devices, including phones, smartwatches, and earbuds, in a district-provided Yondr pouch that is kept sealed during the school day with a magnetized locking device.

CLARKSTON, Wash. - Firefighters are currently battling a fire that began as a house fire and has spread to a nearby field. According to the Washington Department of Natural Resources, the report of a house fire near 27th Street and 6th Avenue in Clarkston Heights quickly escalated, spreading into a nearby field. Fire crews from Lewiston, Washington DNR and Asotin County are actively working to contain the blaze.
Oddity: Wenatchee woman's questionable use of a tennis racket results in arrest
WENATCHEE - A Wenatchee woman's questionable activities involving a tennis racket landed her in hot water with the law late Thursday. At around 8 p.m., Wenatchee Police say the adult woman was damaging cars with a tennis racket on Morris Street. Police say the inconsolable woman tried grabbing at someone's face as well. Police arrived to find that the woman had barricaded herself inside a vacant home in the 900 block of Morris Street. Police were on scene attempting to draw the woman out but she refused to comply with commands.

PATEROS — Starting in September, students in the Pateros School District will enjoy a free day every Friday as the district shifts to a four-day school week for the 2024-25 academic year.
