Iowa Democratic Party awards S.E. Iowans, talks election efforts at debate watch party
WAPELLO COUNTY, Iowa — Ahead of Thursday's presidential debate, a Regional Hall of Fame event in Ottumwa recognized southeast Iowa democrats for their outstanding leadership or volunteer work. Chloe Hennessy from Jefferson County received the Rising Star award. Vernon Trucano from Wapello County was recognized as Outstanding Democratic Volunteer.
Creston police reports pair of warrant arrests
(Creston) -- Creston police report a pair of arrests from early Friday afternoon. The Creston Police Department says 50-year-old Jill Delores Lozano of Colorado was arrested shortly after 1:30 p.m. on a Wapello County warrant for forgery and unauthorized use of a credit card--under $1,500. Additionally, police say 53-year-old Jose Antonio Garza of Ottumwa was arrested shortly before 2:30 p.m. for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked. Authorities say Garza was also arrested on a Wapello County warrant for unauthorized use of a credit card--under $1,500. Police say both arrests occurred at 800 Laurel Street in Creston.
