The newly renovated Kah-Nee-Ta Resort will open to the public Thursday, July 18 after six years of closure. The $13.1 million project has been the work of a partnership between the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and Mt. Hood Ski Bowl operators.

The redesigned resort features 30 pools, including hot mineral soaking pools, cold plunges, a lazy river and soaking tubs. The poolside also features shade and rentable cabanas.

The overnight lodging includes 30 rooms along with 20 teepees and 70 RV spaces. Day passes give visitors access from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For overnight guests, the pools open at 9 a.m. and stay open until 9 p.m.

“Thanks to the commitment and dedication of our partners, project teams and the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs, we are thrilled to be welcoming guests this summer,” said Jim Souers of the Warm Springs Economic Development Corporation. “Our partners, Kirk Hanna and team, which operate Mt. Hood Skibowl, Collins Lake Resort, Lake Simtustus Resort and other recreational related companies really understood our vision for a newly reimagined Kah-Nee-Ta. The property is stunning, and we could not be more excited about this achievement.”

The new Kah-Nee-Ta Resort is generally located at the site of the original Kah-Nee-Ta Village, built in the early 1960s. The Kah-Nee-Ta Lodge, built in the 1970s, was also closed in 2018. It, however, is not part of the renovated Kah-Nee-Ta and remains closed.

The resort area includes public pools, as well as rentable private riverfront cabanas with six-person soaker tubs. The water in the soaker tubs and pools comes from the spring, which brings water with 32 minerals that ranges in temperature from 92 to 103 degrees.

A grab-and-go store has also been added to the resort area, along with completely renovated pool decks that are heated in the winter and cooled in summer, hoping to bring year-round use to the resort.

A restaurant and bar have also been added to the resort, the Chinook Restaurant and the Appaloosa Bar, along with food carts will serve the resort.

While not yet fully completed, the resort plans basketball and sand volleyball courts, along with mini golf, bocci ball, cornhole and ping-pong, as well as hiking and biking trails. In August, the resort plans to open horseback riding and river floating services.

Day passes are available for land or water activities. They cost $39 per person on weekends and $29 per person on weekdays.

The resort cabanas range in price from $59 a day for a poolside cabana to $499 a day for a 16-person poolside party cabana. Overnight stay prices were not yet made available.
